This is a story about a plot to trash the planet and the global movement rising-up to stop it!
Dear Friend,
Three years ago Wimborne based Ecotainment! with some financial support from Bournemouth University took the Plastic Oceans documentary feature film on a tour of Dorset. What was originally intended to be a one-off event ‘snowballed’ into a tour covering all points of the County’s compass. After 15 venues, 27 groups and 600+ audience later the screenings had managed to link-up, inspire, inform and educate people from all walks of life. See www.waveofchange.uk/links
Last year saw a similar formidable network of individuals and organisations come together to host the European Premiere and tour of the film Rubber Jellyfish. Performing out-of-this-world outreach to teach children and adults the dangers of balloon releases ‘balloons blow don’t let them go’!
Now, during the lock-down we are planning something even bigger with a new feature-film called The Story of Plastic.
As you know, COVID-19 has impacted in-person events taking place this spring. However, we have found a virtual solution. In this unprecedented moment, it’s critical to ensure the voices of activists and communities are heard to stand up to big oil and businesses perpetuating the plastic crisis. Stories and film have a unique ability to bridge divides and bring us together as part of something larger than ourselves –to connect us and create empathy during perilous times. The Story of Plastic takes a sweeping look at the man-made crisis of plastic pollution and the worldwide effect it has on the health of our planet and the people who inhabit it.
In recognition of our previous excellent work Jo Ruxton of Plastic Oceans UK is supporting our efforts and will take part in an online Q&A at 9 pm on May 23rd. Alongside Jo will be Dr Martin Price a spokesperson for Friends of the Earth (Dorset). We are still actively seeking Event Partners, (including you) to help share the screenings on social-media and to participate in the events either as a panelist or in the audience. Please share the screenings across your networks and sign-up to one of these special online events NOW. To watch The Story of Plastics for FREE and help keep this plastic-free community alive in the face of adversity.
Once you’ve registered via Eventbrite you will receive an email which contains links to your screening, literature and instructions for joining the video conference Q&A. Including ways to join the global movement to ban plastics for good #BreakFreeFromPlastics
Thank you. We all greatly appreciate your help – and think you’ll love The Story of Plastic.
